Modern? Nice draw. I think they gave out more modern bull tags than cow this year.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

I’ve got the late Malaga cow rifle tag. Trying for the elusive “trophy” true spike for first half of General season then switch to cow lower down!!

I drew Clockum cow too and do not see it any easier than bull.
Gathering is easy. Hunting is a challenge.

It won’t be a shoe in anymore but if you have the time to be out there and put some miles on your boots you should definitely be able to get it done. Just be ready for lots of people and for some reason an ever increasing amount of d bags. Don’t know why everyone wants to come over here and chase spikes and act like the state record is on the line when they are trying to sprint past you on the trail you hiked in on. They are delicious but glad I finally got the multi season elk tag so I can hunt spikes when I don’t have much time and go after branched bulls when I have a few days to drive over and hunt with my brother. Good luck on your tag

Isn’t that the truth. Hard to understand. Couple years back I was helping a Senior with his cow tag. I was glassing a small herd there were two bulls in the group and both were questionable true spikes. It took me quite a while with the spotter to find out both were 1x2’s. Some guy comes racing up the hill to his buddy that was parked close by and said there were 2 true spikes in the group. I informed him they were both 1x2’s. He told me to f ck off and went after them. Some people amaze me
Happiness is being in the woods!!!

Get as high and far as you can On foot along the border to Mission and you’ll avoid most of the BS.
Just tend your own and live.

My son and I were up there at the tail end of Spring Turkey and the Elk were all over the place.  I figured we weren't the only ones to know about all the Elk that roam over that area.  Was thinking about coming back but definitely don't want to subject a new hunter to a lot of BS if that's what it is like during season.  Are GMU's 334/335 which is True Spike and Anterless any better or same experience?

Hunted a few ridges West of there last year and did not see a single Elk.  Did have a pack of wolves come into our camp at around 1 am followed by a Bull bugle in same spot but that was the highlight.
