Kapowsin Hancock area

Good Afternoon-   

I baught a key-pass to the kapowsin-Hancock area this year and was out last weekend camping with kids so didn’t have much time to scout around.   

It is thick timber with lots of clear cuts and I am able to drive up to some real high elevations for sets.   

I was wondering if anyone has any insight into coyote hunting out there or hunting in this type of an area.   Not sure how elevation effects coyotes habit, meaning should I not go above a certain elevation. 

This last question is probably stupid.  I have a roof rack on my jeep and if I parked my Jeep  so it was somewhat hidden and I am down wind down you think the doggies would spot my Jeep and not come in.  My thoughts were to put a big piece of plywood up there and a bit of padding and then put up some camouflage netting of sorts to use it as a platform.   Other option is I have a roof tent that opens in matter of minutes and could pull it open real quick, climb in and keep all the windows closed to hide my sent accept for window in direction of call.    Is this just a stupid idea and  I need to be more camouflaged and tucked away. 
 

Okay one last question.  I marked on Gaia maps that looked good on one road rhat goes up in elevation.  Should I start my sets at Lower elevation first or highest elevation first?   I know there is doggies in the area.  I saw some pups run across the main 6000 road and saw a Juvenal cougar. 

Thanks.  I am a newbie but bought a Fox pro with a decoy and will be using colt 6920 AR with 1-4 scope or shotgun if in timber.

So you wanna shoot from the top of your vehicle ? Pretty sure not legal why not build a blind if your so keen on hiding so hard biggest thing with predators is sit still and I mean still

Also pretty sure it's not legal to shoot form your vehicle or use it as a platform.

Buy a $20 blind like they sell for turkey hunting and get at least a little way from your Jeep.

It doesn't matter high or low, they will be where their at and they move from area to area a lot.  Cruse the roads looking for fresh scat, that will tell you they are in the area. The coyotes in Kapowsin were always very vocal for us so I would howl a few times to locate, once located we would make a move based on the wind. I never had a lot of luck in there calling them to the road, we always tried to get at least a hundred feet or so off the road. I also had no luck in there with an e-callers, mouth calls seem to work best for me. Lots of coyotes in there, good luck.
