Longer distances shooting ranges in Western Washington?
« on: December 03, 2021, 10:08:18 PM »
I'm a Snohomish county resident and am wondering if anyone can direct me to someplace where I can practice longer shots in my area?  I've been going to the Kenmore range for many years, but unless I become a member there (which is way outside my budget cost wise) targets are 100 yards only.  I don't need to practice insane yardage, but it would be nice to become more comfortable with 300 yards.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

a little bit of a drive but there is The Plantation Shooting Range in Whatcom Co. Rifle is out to 300 yrds.  I don't know of any gravel pits that have over 100 yrds around me.

I just find a safe spot on public land.

This range is just outside of Port Townsend, if that isn't too far to travel. Click on Calendar. On Tuesdays and Fridays, the range is reserved for shooting at 200 and 300 yards for a couple of hours (uncovered, open to the elements concrete benches). If others are there and shooting at 200, they will share the 2 hour time period and let you shoot at 300. You can pay $10 to shoot for the day and do not have to be a member. I would take the extra step and contact the range officer to make sure someone will be there to open it up for you, since you would be a visitor and not know the gate combination. This is a nice lowkey range that isn't overrun with a lot of people.......even more so during this period of limited ammo availability.

I have always hated shooting ranges, there’s always that one bonehead that makes me feel uncomfortable!
