I am not the deepest person in the politics side of things of WDFW.
I want to make something known that has been passed along to me that is very important information that the right people can use to make our voice heard and we each have a voice. So, let's do all we can while we can before our rights are gone.

I learned today for a highly reliable source that Koontz and Smith while sitting on the commission and voting our hunts away have NOT BEEN CONFIRMED. They can still be taken off the commission by not being confirmed. I was asked to share this info with the community.

That means we still have a chance to get them out and fill the seats with someone other than anti hunters who will not listen to the science and trust that their own bio's can make the right decisions and listen to the science and fact's other then political goals.

In the confirmation process that has not happened yet. There is a few people that can help to make sure this does not happen to my understanding.

Senator Kevin Van De Wege from Sequim is one of these people. His email is kevin.vandewege@leg.wa.gov.

Please take the time to write him in regard to Koontz and Smith and ask that he stop the confirmation of these two and ask that he gets people that have our wildlife and are rights on their mind. Also ask that he put effort into filling the last seat that would have kept our spring bear hunts from being taken away. This seat to my understanding is an eastern Washington seat. It would greatly help our chances to keep our rights moving forward so that these ties that ignore science and lock things up so we can't have our season don't happen.

I hope you can all take a minute and fight for our future. This blow is just one of many to comes if we don't stand up to this!

Doesn't the governor appoint members?  I'm more than willing to do my part, but if they get ousted they will either be replaced with the same or worse and then the clock restarts.

Yes, from my understanding he appoints them but does not have full power to confirm. So, My understanding is it's like a probation period and they can end up not being confirmed and then replaced. People with pollical goals and ones that won't listen to science and make our hunts start disappearing is to me bad news. This is also why the last seat needs to be filled so that these ties dont happen.

Van De Wege has been the HSUS state senator of the year several times. Henis not our friend. Imo i would write the whole Senate Natural Resources Committee. :twocents:

Even better. Don’t know who all gets to help confirm but the more buzz we make the better. I was told he was one of the ones to contact.

I usually stay on the side lines but I am so sick of this stuff.
Email sent to Van De Wick as well as Senator King.

Thanks for the info. I sent Kevin an email with no hope it will make a difference but we have to try. Kevin may be from the peninsula but from what I see that he supports he may as well be from Seattle.. LIkes to add more wilderness and park and probly wants that full of wolves and bears too. Definitely time to band together and somehow get a voice for us on the wildlife commission. If I wasn't moving to Idaho to get away from this stupidity I would try and get on there.

I’ve sent emails to the commission and dimslee and will to Kevin van. But here’s a thought I haven’t seen discussed. Do the commissioners apply for positions and is there a pool of apps? Can we see who is in the pool and write in he gov to add some favorable seats? If there is 1 empty seat and these 2 nitwits aren’t confirmed that’s 3 positions to sway votes. I know gov will fill with his people but we can apply more pressure.

Has anyone actually received a response to their emails? I sure haven't  :dunno:

Along with emailing Kevin as stated above I would urge everyone to send an email or make a call to their State Senator.  Right after the vote I emailed the commission first, but then emailed my elected officials (State Senators and Representatives).  I did receive a response from the Senator from my district that he would be sure to Vote against the confirmation of the Smith and Koontz if/when the time came.  I would encourage all to do the same.
