2023 Eastern Elk Auction
« on: April 04, 2023, 12:10:25 PM »
Well here we go again.

https://auctions.rmef.org/auctions/319/13407

You have to create an account to watch but it’s already at $66,000 with a couple days left to go.

The last 30 minutes is fun to watch and if a bid comes in with seconds to go they extend the bid time.

There are some great auctions to watch other than just the eastern Washington elk.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Pennsylvania and Washington are kicking it on the elk tags.

Both of those normally do very well.

Like I say the real fun is watching the last few hours of the last day.

I’m not done bidding, my wife says I need to keep going.

Cabin in the Bahamas for a week looks nice. :chuckle:

10 hours to go, better get your financing in order.

Last 30 minutes will be fun to watch. Sold for $160,000 last year and went from $100,000 to $160,000 in the last hour.

If a bid comes in with less than a minute to go they extend the time by 4 or 5 minutes so it won’t necessarily end right at 6pm if two bidders are going at it.

Place your bets now on the final number.

I'm going with $148k

Up to 98k now.  I find it crazy that Wa has such a high interest with elk, we beat WY, OR, MT, and Co when it comes to high auction prices for big bulls.  Must be a pig out there. WY auction seems like a bargain !

I’m guessing $146,000. That’s my limit. :chuckle:

You can’t hunt bulls OTC in Washington like you can in montana. You can’t hunt bulls on the east coast OTC. So you have a supply and demand thing. If you want to hunt bulls here or in Pennsylvania you are going to pay a high price.

With that said the Montana tag is north of $70,000.

Pretty sure they wanted to kill a clean typical over 400" last year and they passed non-typicals that were big big.

What was the final bid? It just says there was 76 bids

Makes sense. That pennsylvania bull is way bigger and doesnt even have broken points like the WA one.  :chuckle:

The Pennsylvania bull did loose some inches from the rut on broken point tips. But although he doesn't have points broke off he isn't breathing anymore either.  :dunno:

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield
