Wild Berries

Dhoey07:
Don’t forget about elderberrries. Quite a few around in august/September

geauxtigers:
Family and I went out picking huckleberries last weekend.  Got a fair amount, but there’s a few large swathes of huckleberry bushes that had dried, shriveled blossoms and no berries.  Disappointing

Anyway, we also came across a TON of these berry bushes.  I don’t know what they are, and am wondering if anyone here can help.  Berries were still pretty firm so I’m hoping they may ripen into something edible and darker…

Mountain Ash Berry, bears like them I’ve noticed latter in the season when the other berries are gone.

geauxtigers:
Thanks Boss.  I guess I know where I should be for bears when they’re really fat a little later in the fall!

Next outing start looking to see if they are being eaten, bears pull down the branches to get at the upper berries breaking them up pretty good.
