I might do something in any of the listed calibers as long as the components I have will be of use.  Bullets seem to be the more difficult thing to get my hands on.  This year's deer I harvested at 535 yards but probably can't see shooting much further than 700.  What say the masses?

I just finished putting together a 7 PRC.  I have never liked the belted case of the 7MM RM but I have shot a RM for over 30 years.  Did I need to? No lol!

It my first custom rifle but I love 7MM’s.

What action and stock.  Can't tell from the picture?  Nice looking set up though.

I rebarreled a Sako Finnbear to 33 Nosler with a brake and it shoots like a house on fire.
You can shoot anything from a 200 to a 270 grain bullet.
My choice is the 270 ELDX at about 2850 FPS.
Deadly and accurate, although I use RL 19 and not the H 1000 which you have.
Recoil with the brake is fairly mild and you never have to worry about having enough oomph.

As a side note, I have a Tikka TX# superlight in 7MM Mag and it shoots lights out.
I have killed a few elk with it out to 450 yards using 160 Grain Speer Hot Cores.
It too is an elk killing combo.

If you have a standard length action, I would stick with a standard length cartridge, which the 33 Nosler is.

Good Luck with your project.
Rob.

I don't rifle hunt elk, but if I did and wanted to shoot out to 700 I have a 338 on standby.

It’s a Lone Peak action. I went with a Pure Precision stock when they were on sale.  I am really happy with the stock.

The Big Game Hunter:
Nothing wrong with wanting to change calibers here, but I'm in agreement with those who voted for the 7mm PRC. It is a fantastic case design optimized for accuracy. You can use those 168gr Bergers if you want, or you can start using one of the higher BC offerings for 7mm bullets and really wring all the performance posible out of the 7mm bore diameter.
