Yeah, I bring them both to a variety of places and any trails I find where they can be offleash. But the 3 year old gets too familiar with them and can get bored.  I’d love to find some large open space where they can run, but it’s getting harder to find.

Yes, the 3 year old is very responsive off leash.

There's a lot of scent work you can do at home and other places on your own where it's safe to be off leash.  There's also some books you can reference such as Gun Dog by Richard A. Wolters.

If your dog(s) have the drive to hunt, they can be trained. If you can find someone that trains you to train your dog that's always helpful.

It's a long detailed write up to explain what I know about nose work, something we can talk through a bit over the phone if you want. I've been working with my GSD for a few weeks. A week ago she flushed two birds for me.
