Have a plan to get the meat processed and cooled down fast. Have the right tools. I believe most of the time when people complain about gamey-tasting venison, it's because the meat stayed warm too long.

Last time I was on a long hunt during the heat, I had ice chests full of ice in the shade just in case.

Used to take a small, cleaned out refrigerator with us on the desert hunts. Little generator ran it but did have to pretty much debone the meat to get in there. Couldn't hang the meat with the heat anyway and where we hunted was a long way from any where to get ice.

I have a buddy in Alaska who takes trash compactor bags with him when he does early remote hunts where he plans to stay a while. He skins and quarters his meat then seals it in the bags and either packs it in snow if there is any available or more often sinks it in a water source, either a stream or a lake, until he is ready to leave.

During hot weather I will take a small freezer along and run it after we make a kill. One of the bigger inverters connected to your truck battery will run a small freezer. But don't let it run extended time with your engine turned off, it can make your battery go dead.

I watched 8-12 bucks this year bed in no shade the entire summer, when it was 106 those bucks were up till 7-8 am and evenings up hours before sundown. Deer are going to do their thing no matter the heat. What makes bucks not get up till late is pressure

I feel this is exactly spot on.........

All I know is ,I seen a dang nice WT on my way out of the woods last nite. Sorry no pic. As soon as I pulled my phone out he busted off .
Guarantee almost any archery hunter would of sent an arrow his way.
They still move around in the heat, that was a few hours before dark .

Critters live in the weather year round. They dont  let the weather dictate what they are going to do. They are going to do what they normally do with very few exceptions to what the weather is doing. Thats my thoughts anyhow.

We bring a large cooler and a couple bags of ice. If we knock an elk down, it’s typically opened up once tracked, quartered out, and hiked to truck/cooler. This cools meat way down and we can make multiple trips, not having to hurry. We typically get it to the butcher same day and he hangs in a cooler for a few days before processing. Seems to work great, always get great quality meat. Simple meat care is huge: air it out, get in shade, debone and get on ice. One hunt we were in a remote river canyon so I deboned a buck and stuffed heavy trash bags, zip tied them, and sunk them along the river bank that night. Meat turned out great!
