50 inch SXS and Tracks?

They are tight on storage but you can get creative. We have door bags, roof bags and I even put a set of bags we had for our to wear while hiking over the gear shift like a set of saddle bags. I have a RBO rear, top and windshield and it has a storage bin on the rear panel that sits behind the seat. If you put a RBO rear rack on it’ll give you a lot more storage. I’ve had a quartered cow elk in the bed and even two only gutted whitetails in the bed. Heater is a must, I made my own side windows and we have a manual windshield wiper. It’s been a great little rig to hunt out of.

If I was to buy another side by side, it would be a Honda 1000, some friends have them, they handle the tracks well and you get Honda reliability.

I have a Honda pioneer 1000-5 (not 50”) and a Honda pioneer 520 (50” model). The 520 is new and hasn’t had a ton of use so far, but look forward to running it in Idaho.  I actually traded a can am 1000 for it as the can am was really not great for the mountains (in my opinion).  We cruise the trail and road systems so a 50” machine allows us to be legal in Idaho.  We aren’t doing crazy things so it should be very safe. If I wanted to play in the snow…I would just buy another trail sled.

One thought I have…..

1. I’m not sure I would want to take my young kids places where tracks are needed in fear of getting stuck for a prolonged period of time.  If you’re just sticking to a road system, that’s one thing…..but wanting a 50” for trails can get dicey.  I personally wouldn’t want a three year old on a trail system with tracks for fear of being stuck or rolling it and hurting or killing my kid.

Polaris had a deal, so I picked up a 2025 RZR Trail 900 for $13999 brand spankin new.  So far, we love it.  Already slipped into a few tight spots.  We're not road rallying, so its perfect for what we're doing.  On wheels, I'm able to use a MadRamps setup and get it into the back of my 6'6" bed on my duramax and take it wherever we need without a trailer.

That won't be the case when I find tracks for it, but scoping out some used 4s1 Camso tracks while they're cheap in the summer.  Grabbed some cheap mirrors, a used glass windshield.  Going to throw an acrylic tinted roof on it.  I'm excited.  Doesn't need anything to be road legal in idaho except plates and insurance, so we've had fun doing evening cruises looking for animals.

I throw the car seat in it, and that seems to work well to keep my toddler secure, and she LOVES IT.

I'll update as I learn more, so far, very happy.  It goes way faster than I need it to.

I have a trailer you will need.   I actually have two 12’ utility/utv trailers to post/sell in the next few weeks…

Congrats on the purchase.  I hope you and the fam have tons of fun!
