No trespassing, hunting, fishing signs posted along Skykomish river

(1/1)

Skyvalhunter:
Since fishing is now opened on the Skykomish for salmon and steelhead I have seen landowners posting no trespassing, hunting or fishing signs on the high water ways along the river. It's my understanding that the property up to the high water mark is owned by the Wa DNR and posting of these signs is considered a form of harassment. Has anyone else ran into this?

My understanding: for rivers, you need to keep your feet in the water.  Tidelands are a different matter.

Not necessarily true.
On listed Navigable waterways, the high water mark is the boundary. If I remember correctly, there’s a rather long and dramatic filled thread on here about it.

The issue with private land on the Sky is you can’t use the private land to access the river aka there’s no right of portage. So you have to access the river at a bridge or other piece of public land access. Once you’re inside the high water markings, you’re good.
