Are they that rare in that area?  I swear I've seen them in central Wa.

I can't say how rare.
But FS has had land set aside as a lynx recovery zone for 30 years now that I'm aware of, probably longer.
In the north half .
So.......might as well get it going.
Instead of making a recovery zone, never knowing if there are lynx.

Pretty cool to see lynx return.

BA Mongor:
This is actually great. Lynx are extremely susceptible to other predators, especially wolves.
Maybe the tribe can set aside an area to eliminate 50% of the wolves!!

I've never seen one in the wild, but would love to photograph them.

bearpaw:
When I was younger we saw lynx tracks in the northeast every winter. I haven't seen much sign of them for a couple decades. The last one I physically saw in the northeast was back about 2000 to 2004ish. We are on the southern edge of their natural range so I don't expect there to ever be many, but its nice to see them in the area again.
