How it going.? No snow warmer weather. I was out on opening day saw only 1 legal buck. Maybe 12 does. In my normal honey hole. 8 miles later

I'll be heading out Wednesday for the late muley/ elk season. Hopefully get a chance at something. I like not having a lot of snow in the spot I hunt, the roads are super sketchy when it gets some snow on them.

Saw a small dusting of fresh snow on the west cascade slopes this afternoon once the clouds broke. I think you’ll have some great weather rolling in to make this an exciting hunt.

Seen 2 get taken. VERY VERY busy in my normal area, and way less deer there. Tried Swakane proper 1 day, never saw a deer. 
They are all spread out still up to 6K feet, where I did miss a shot at a smaller 4x.....never ever had a buck string jump a shot before now, and frustrating that it's my fastest bow ever.

Crazy how a place can go from almost no one to lots of people. My usual spot went from only seeing a couple people to 5-6

Seen 2 get taken. VERY VERY busy in my normal area, and way less deer there. Tried Swakane proper 1 day, never saw a deer. 
They are all spread out still up to 6K feet, where I did miss a shot at a smaller 4x.....never ever had a buck string jump a shot before now, and frustrating that it's my fastest bow ever. 

Had my first buck string jump sixty years ago. Over the years I have had another four happen. Did not seem to matter what speed the arrow was. The first was with a recurve and heavy wooden arrow. As time went on the bows and arrows changed with more speed each change. When I quit bowhunting I was using a compound bow set at 110 pounds pull with 50 percent let-off. Did not seem to matter with the jumping for some reason. It was extremely frustrating if you spent two hours maneuvering around with the wind and terrain to have the buck jump the string. Hopefully your miss happened without hours of effort on your part.

Had the buck i killed duck my arrow the evening before i shot him. Never had anything like that happen before. His front legs shot out and chest darn near touched the dirt.

110 lb draw weight 

Been a few years since I quit and it appears no one hunts like that anymore. The last year I hunted I was still hunting and it was cold out. After freezing for several hours  I attempted to pull the bow back on a nice buck and could not. The rest of the season I cranked the poundage down to about 85. Never bow hunted after that year because of nerve damage. Turned out that quite a few of the bow hunters I knew that used the same methods also ended up with nerve damage. I suspect the bow hunting and practice with high poundage had a lot to do with it.

Dealt with wolves and cougars in our area. Had a button buck killed by a cat. I found the cache, took 2 and a half days and the deer had been eaten. Saw a stud Muley and a stud whitetail that had been killed. Both by res folks with rifle.

Most rez folks just wait till modern closed. About now and go rifle hunting.
Most likely there season goes till December 31.
I don't think anyone is waiting,I've seen a few dandy bucks being DRT by rez folks .
They get there 4 months/ 4 deer or whatever regulations they have.
Pretty sure there concerns for WDFW seasons are very low.

Well tag soup for me this year. Saw 35+ deer yesterday and not one legal buck. Do you think that the big late fires moved the deer around? Does that make them migrate into different places?

 From what I understand fires can adjust their historical migration routes... Along with dead fall and blow downs...

Saw quite a few deer in burned areas, including a legal buck that is lucky to still be walking. 
I believe that lack of snow has the deer spread out from 6000' down to traditional winter grounds.........theres still deer on cams wayyyy up Entiat valley

I saw an indian family with a 150+ whitetail AND a MONSTER muley in back of a truck. Two days, 2 rifle kills for them while I carried my bow around lol

Didn’t know what to expect this year with the fires. Deer were scarce and in some traditional spots but other spots that we always see deer were barren. I got a buck on Friday. Warden said it was only the third one he had seen taken. I’ll post pics later. Lost my phone on the mountain.

I know of three taken and then I was able to take one on Saturday.  Between the fires and warm weather the rut was weird and the deer behavior was weird.  We didnt see the big migrant push like we usually do.
