Weatherby Long Range Steel Choke
« on: December 18, 2025, 06:14:28 AM »
Can someone educate me on this choke please? It came with my Weatherby Element. Looks like a modified choke with 3 notches. Is it safe to shoot BB's through this? Has anyone used it on ducks, geese etc... pics attached

As a general rule of thumb a modified for lead, is full for steel. All manufactures will say never go tighter than a mod for steel.  So this is likely just simple marketing for the uneducated masses.   I think Weatherby uses the Beretta thread pattern.  BB should be zero issue

That is not a Beretta choke. Looks more like a browning invector style. You should be fine shooting BB's but make sure you take it out and lube it regularly.

Yes, its fine with BB’s or other steel loads.  Its a factory Weatherby choke, I had one come with both of my Element’s that I won at a DU shoot.  Same as the old original Browning Invector thread pattern, lots of aftermarket options available for cheap from places like Carlson or others if you want.

Oh crap you guys are correct on the Invector.  This must be a older Japanese gun and I was thinking it was a newer Turkey junker.
