Razor Clamming this weekend

To those with lots of experience, do you think size depends on how low of a tide there is?
It seemed like if I stayed basically in the water(the closest possible to the ocean) that I got bigger clams.
Lots of folks pulling above where the waves never hit while you were digging, but the clams were deeper, and mostly smaller.  :dunno:  I am still newer at this.

Generally speaking, I would say yes. You can find a higher % of bigger clams lower in the tidal zone.  I think they don't get picked off as often as higher up which is exposed many more times, not that you can't find some bigger clams there.

That makes sense to me too.  Clams that only get exposed on a -1.5 only get dug a couple times a year.  Clams at 0.0 get dug every two weeks from October - May.
