My dad... When I was a kid we use to fit everything we needed in the back of a 77 Land Cruiser... Slept in sleeping bags on the floor in an old external aluminum framed tent... Remember it had some patches on it... White fuel lantern would warm it up a little... He cooked over the fire... Cut the potatoes on a cut stump or log... Then we got a travel trailer when I was 14 and thought we were living the life... Then I bought a wall tent when I was 23... And the additions don't stop... I use to be able to haul camp in my truck for two of us... Seems like every year something else is getting added... And now we have a sxs... I'd say the wall tent originally... Now I'd say the sxs to get from camp to hunting spot 4 x faster then the truck... I did add a new camp crapper last year that's the best one yet... My dad might say the generator and microwave to warm up leftovers after a long day and you don't feel like cooking... One year he did forget one of his pads for under his bag on the cot... I didn't hear the end of that and end up giving him one of mine halfway through the season... I make for sure he packs it now... So to me it might actually be my dad's bed pad... The propane heater is so nice... Save's a day cutting, transporting, and chopping wood... I built a wind screen for around the cook stove that speeds up cooking on those even lightly breezy days... Should've done that years ago... There's so many things that make a good camp great... But as long as my dad keeps making it there... That's all that matters the most to me... Wish my kids were more into hunting but it didn't turn out that way... But there's still time... May want to some time... |

Years ago I took my JD backhoe up in the offseason and dug a deep pit for a camp outhouse. It took a 4 ft wide outhouse to cover the pit so we had a wide seat. My buddy always a jokester used the extra space to put in two toilet seats side by side. Visitors to our camp left thinking funny thoughts about us boys. Haha. |

Always wanted to tow a portable hot tub, fill it with crick water and heat with propane or generator. Might be better to rent a cabin with one. That is a luxury item. |

When I had my Tacoma, I'd rent a 17-20' trailer and live in comfort. Last season, I rented a cabin within 20 minutes of the hunting area - all the creature comforts for air and heat, refrigeration, outside patio for cigars and bourbon, hot showers, spacious living and bedroom, well-equiped kitchen, long driveway to set up an archery range. I really enjoyed it and listened all night to the bulls below in the preserve. |

Where I used to trap wolves in Idaho. After rifle elk season, patchs of those blue shop towels popped up everywhere. Appeared to be the new state flower. |
