Sneaky Squirrel:
I'm with you 100%. You think it was hard to pull a tag in the past, it is only going to get harder with the way people are with Social Media and wanting to get views.... Sad part is when you DM someone with info on a unit and after season, they blow it up with all the details for everyone to read, it leaves a sour taste in a guys mouth.

Everyone wants to be famous on SM. It’s annoying and I roll my eyes at most of it because I can tell they ain’t worth a hoot in the woods but to each their own I guess. If there was the opportunity to do the same back in the day some of those guys would be selfie stick dip$hits too.

Since the point system started the regs show how many applicants per special permit from the season before so anyone with a little common sense can see just by those the preferred tags... And if you watch and unnamed success video of an elk hunt in eastern WA I can tell the difference between the Blues and the Colockum like a lot of us... I can also tell the difference between Desert and the Methow or Okanogan and Chelan might be harder to tell apart... I see your point... But a name on a video on someone's social media isn't the only thing making it harder to draw tags in top tier gmus... It's cause it's some of the best hunting in the state already! I only name drop here so you won't have to worry about me on other social media!!!  :chuckle:

Bingo!
Pathfinder101:
I have noticed a lot of Youtubers have stopped even posting or mentioning the state that they're hunting in.

I sure miss the days when my favorite west side unit wasn't on the radar and areas where to hunt weren't posted all over the place as soon as permit results come out.  I still remember some elk seasons having a big area all to myself!!!   Damn internet is a double bladed sword, I've learned from it and it's killed me at the same time.  I have to admit though, when I see someone hunting in an OTC unit and the area is really nice, I wanna know where it is!!
