Ideas for a new 20Ga over/under?
« on: August 07, 2009, 03:20:22 PM »
For a wedding present, my wife gave me a "shotgun" of my choice...Actually, she gave me one of here Uncle's boxed 12 ga Citoris as a fill-in until I could go pick mine out...It is time to do that. Does anyone have a recommendation for a 20ga over/under? Budget is under $2k and I am looking for a field gun, not a range hound.

:yeah:  I've got the 26 inch barrels.  Little easier to swing when you're in tight quarters for grouse, quail and ringnecks.

If there is ever 1 shotgun that every man or woman should own it is a Citori. (im not bias or anything). they can be had for under 2k.
But the Beretta is also a very nice gun..
Could go and get a CZ Mallard and have enough for another gun..

I'd go with a Ruger Red Label.  I've got one in 12 ga. with 26" barrels.  It's a sweet shotgun.

He did say his budget was under 2k, and you can have a brand new, Citori 20gauge for under 2k. closer to 1500-1600, the berretta is right in that range also..
Or are you saying Browning is only as good as it is for the money which is not much? :dunno:
Or that they are over priced for what you get? :dunno:
We are talking shotguns here, over and unders and he didn't say "whats the best cheap over and under i can get for $500.00"..

I would go handle a bunch of them and pick the one you like most.  A lot of guys like browning but they feel like a light 2x4 to me.  I like a red label but most guys will tell you they weigh to much.  Find what you like and buy it.
