New to elk hunting in Washington
« on: August 10, 2009, 06:12:19 PM »
I was looking to go Elk hunting in the Toledo area. From what I can find in the regs book, this is gmu 5029. Can someone help me with this. I really want to hunt this HUGE HUNNY HOLE I found a few years ago. Ever since I found this area, that was about 4-5 years ago and I have seen Elk in this little reveine, a few big guys hanging out.  Thanks for the help

5029 is the Toledo elk area.  Which is part of the Winston GMU 520 if I am correct.  Need to make sure which GMU unit that is ur seeing the elk and then pick a season.

You'd want to look at the seasons/rules for the Winston GMU (520.) The Elk Area was only created to concentrate hunters in that specific area, with the use of special permits, which have their own seasons at times other than what the general seasons are.

I assume your archery hunting?  5029 as far as I know is an area specific for the AHE tags which you would have to get drawn for after you completed the course.  It is part of 520 and is only necessary to know its boundaries if you get drawn for that tag otherwise just reference the area your seeing elk are in the Winston unit.  Follow the hunting regs and season dates for the Winston unit.
