I'm planning on hunting the north end of the Olympic Peninsula for the the modern rifle season and figured I would extend an invitation to whoever wants to come.  Don't care if it's your first hunt or 50th time hunting.  Bear in mind it will be my first hunting excursion in the area, so I won't be a golden ticket to putting someone on deer.  I am in Afghanistan till the first week of November and won't be able to scout the area.  I am pouring through maps and satellite photos though, so won't be totally blind going into it.  Mostly just looking for someone to BS with at night after the days hunt is over.  I'm not a huge drinker, but will have a beer or two.  I like to hunt alone, but a couple guys in the same area comparing notes can be helpful.  Or if you have an area you want to hunt and are looking for some one to BS with I could be swayed to change my plans.  My normal hunting partner transferred out of state and last year I got bored sitting around the camp by myself, so figured I would see if I can find a new friend or two here.  You all seem like good people (for the most part!).  I live on Whidbey Island if that matters much.  Oh, and I am going on shore duty after this deployment and plan on catching up on all the hunting I've missed out on since I have made 3 deployments here in 3 years now.  So let me know if you are interested.

Wow, I guess I have to ask what is open after the first of November for modern rifle in the north Peninsula area. I hunt the Peninsula but usually further south. I will have to check regs and see if I have been missing something....
Some people spend their entire life wondering if they made a difference. Marines don't have that problem.

I might be interrested if I don't score by then.  my hunting buddy just transferred up to whidbey and goes on a deployment around then so I will be on my own.  I am station at bangor right now.  I have hunted the forks area once before so I have a little knowledge of the area.   We are hunting area 636 for the regular season (I live close).

Cool, let me know.  I hunted the Satsop (651) a few years ago and saw a couple bucks.  Unfortunately they were hauling ass across the road on their way to the next county though.

Yeah, if I don't tag out by then, let me know and keep me posted.  I'm sure sitting up on the Pen will be a nice change of pace from Afghanistan.
I can BS as good as the next guy and pride myself on some good camp cooking the Dutch ovens.

I hunt all over the Pen, and will get some scouting in.

Sounds good.  I'm definately not locked in to the north side.  Just figured if I was going to go into unfamiliar territory I'd might as well stick close to home.  But if someone scouts out or knows of a good area, I'm willing to go wherever.  I mostly just want to get out into the woods.  If it were just about shooting a deer I wouldn't have to leave home.  Hell, not even the house.  I live on 5 acres on Whidbey and have plenty of deer in the yard often enough.  So looks like we have a couple maybe's so far.  Could end up with quite the hunting camp come November!
