Well I literally just got back from 9 days of crawling on my belly chasing muleys followed by three days of helping my buddies chase elk. I am tired! I saw some monster muleys and missed a shot over the back at 183 yards on a bruiser. I had to pass up a shot at 50 yards on two legal bucks that passed right in front of me as they were ten yards onto an adjacent property that I did not have permission to hunt. The rest of the story is too painful to tell right now but I'll write up a big post later that will include my run in with a cougar!

Opening Day buck. Shot it right in the head at 28 yards. The story is under Muzzeloader 2009 in the deer forum.

This is my first roosevelt. I have an inline, but this gun was given to me by my grandfather when he got too old to hunt, so I decided to use it instead. Traditional blackpowder is more fun anyway.

Being home on R&R, I only had two days to hunt.
First day I saw a beautiful five point bull elk and a nice smaller four point. But, with it being early muzzle, I had to be satisfied with looking but not touching.
Then the second day I saw four small bucks (1 spike and 3 forkies) within twenty yards, but I was hunting a 3-point unit!
Oh well. It was nice being out with Dad anyway.

My Dad also hooked up with a good buck. Nice little 3x3. He shot it in the neck at about 50 yards, it never took a step-Boom! Whop! Splat!
