Bushnell 5.0 Trophy Cam
« on: October 24, 2009, 10:26:53 PM »
Went to pick up two Moultrie D40's but almost walked out with 1 Bushenll 5.0 Trophy Cam. The size and weight was shocking in comparison to everything eles is amazing. It was just hard to walk out with just one cam instead of two cams.

I went with the two Molutrie D-40 but wanted the Trophy Cam. See how the pictures go in the next week or two, I may exchange them.

I had 2 diffrent Trophy cams and the lense filter detached in both of them and was rattling around inside the case.  The lady at the Cabelas said she had seen this happen  before.   :twocents:

I read somewhere that the Bushnell can last up to six months on 4 AA and up to a year on 8. Seems like a sweet TC, Im curious to how nice of pics it takes.

I think you'll be happy with the Moultrie's.  I have 2 and my hunting partner has 2 and they have served us well!!  My only complaint (if you can call it that!) is the motion sensor is almost to good!! If there is a blade of grass 15 feet in front of the camera and it's blowing in the wind... You'll have 400 pictures of it.  BUT..  it does a great job catching deer movement also.

Not sure if the newer D40's are exactly the same as the ones a few years ago??  But I don't like the 1 second delay on the photo trigger.  I always have my cameras set on 3-shot burst and have gotten lots of pictures of an ass going out of the screen and then 2 more shots of nothing because the deer was trotting or running..  :twocents:

Either way..  Glad you got some cams and lets see some pics!!

What type of batteries are used in the Moultrie? My only concern is I'm not too fond of those big square flashlight type batteries that you recharge with alligator clips that are used in some TC's.

D batteries in the ones I bought last year. My cousin has the older style with the alligator clips, both work fine. The older one has less options :twocents: Mark

Thanks! My dad has an older TC, I cant remember what type but I think it is a Moultrie. It has the older battery design and we could never get it to work very well. Looking to upgrade. Im liking those new bushnells but never hurts to hear other peoples experiences with others. Sorry about the  :jacked:
