Thanks for all the great comments guys. I trap the Columbia river between Chelan and Entiat. I use a handcock trap and set it up on the shore with the trip can covered with a few inches of water. The river goes up and down so it makes it hard to keep it set just right. I don't think it matters much cause I caught one yesterday and the trap was all the way out of the water. I use willow branches and weave them in the wire at the top of the trap and use a little beaver caster lure. It seems to work really good. I only have one trap right now. With limited time it works out alright for now. I'm working on building a cage trap for them right now to see if that works. Take care Tyler |
