Take a gander at the thread BIGBULLDOWN. It should be on the first page of the elk section. the story and support pics are there. It was an awesome hunt. let me know what you think of him. I was hoping to get him scored this week, but my work schedule isn't cooperating.

Ahh-Hahh, now I can see it, I had to switch PCs, I have so many blockers on mine that some photos will not appear! Lucky we have 3 going at all times!
Good looking bull for sure, congrats on a real trophy there!! What longbow were you shooting there? Arrow/Broadhead choice? Thanks!
I also wanted to add that those Father Son times are truly special, I hold those memories close to my heart!

I am shooting a custom hybrid longbow from Hornseeker on here (Sapphire hawk), from Sapphire Archery. I think I put a link to his website if you are interested in that sort of thing in the Archery shop thread...... I'll look for the link. Its 80-85 pounds at 31". I'm sort of a big fellar so I am launching missels. I am shooting full length Gold tips at 5575 carbon, with traditional wood grain. I tried the stiffer spine, but didn't shoot well with the fingertip release etc. They are tipped with 125 magnus Stingers, two blade. Wicked buggers. i think I am underweight for my arrows or total weight. I'll be working on that this summer. I am thinking about gong to some grizzly tips or whatever they are called. I am very happy with my selection as I think it saved my bacon. I got into a shoulder blade this fall, and if not for the two blade.......I did have my compound back in camp as a back up. We were a long ways rom home. i told Idabooner that the first three days would be traditional, and the last three would be with the compound.
I'm always very willing to plug Ernies bows. they are awesome. Fastest shooting critters I have ever laid my hands on and they are gorgeous. They are also very affordable as he is fairly new to the business so is still building a name for himself. So far with this bow for the last two seasons, I have killed my Alaskan moose, two nice muleys during the modern season, and this elk.

If you want to kill a big bull Paul...you really should be shooting a Sapphire...hehehe
Good to see you over here at WA Hunt.. Doug is my marketing marvel..he's killed a couple nice bucks and that nice bull and a great Alaskan bull with the bow I built him!
Hey, you gonna try to make the Montana Bowhunters Convention in Missoula this year??
Thanks for the Plug Doug.

Thank You for the info there Bone! (I hope it's OK to call you that?) Yes, those Grizzly Sticks are one tough bugger for sure! They've got good wt. behind them as well, you'll like them. I agree that Stinger is a very good head, I blew through the shoulder bone of this bull at 10yds with the 125grn Stinger with bleeders, buried it to the fletching.
I know Ernie, yes he's a great guy, didn't know he was on this Site, great to hear!! He's threatened to make me a bow a time or two, we'll see! (grin)

I'm always excited to tell someone about your bows. I think they are INCREDIBLE! Aren't you supposed to be building me another for half off or something for killing that big elk. AND.......a new hat too.

Bone is fine. Doyou shoot grizzly sticks? You need to talk him into putting that rifle of his away in the closet, and starting shooting bows with one of these sharp sticks. I asked his wife about that and she spewed all sorts of stuff out about him.
I can't rib him too much though, I might be over there this year wth him posing behind ne of those Montana bulls with an 06 in my hands.

I have not personally hunted with Grizzly Sticks, but a friend has used them on his hunts, they're a good breed! I've shot aluminums the 2 years I've shot this bow, my son however shoots cedars out of his recurve & has taken 3 bulls with them & various heads.
Ernie, I know you took a nice bull this year with the rifle, but it is time to pull out the longbows for sure, you're a natural for it! I may even invite you up this way & see how you do with a bull in front of you! (grin)
Ernie, honestly speaking, I'm in the market for a new bow this year, it must be a T/D Model though! The one I have now is a one piece, great bow but I need something different! I think we should talk!

I have really enjoyed mine for packing in or going in on my big hunts, especially the Alaskan hunt. i was pretty nervous about how it might effect the shooting etc., but it worked awesome.
HEY don't be distracting him with other hunts. He is responsible for taking care of me this year when I get drawn. I say this year as I am going into Montana with 4 points. THAT SHOULD BE a sure thing.

Criminy sakes...I guess we'll hijack this thread... Doug started it anyways..
Guys...I hunt my BUTT off with that dang longbow...just haven't had a great shot opp yet! This year I had a nice 5 point walking past me at 17 yards and then FROZE behind the tree I was going to draw on him as he went behind... He went from broadside behind the tree to tail to me and running straight away.... end of encounter!
Had another good one this year Paul, I'll start a thread about it and see what you'd recommend.
Heck, the rifle bull would have been a great bow opportunity. Though I killed him at about 75 yards, he was clueless I was there, wind was perfect, the snow was DEAD quiet and he was feeding on moss on a downed tree. It was awesome. Probably could have pulled into about 30 yards and skewered him...easier said than done!!
I'll shoot ya an email about a bow Paul..
