However, elk and zebra are too far apart genetically  to interbreed, even artificially.   There is a zebra X donkey somewhere in WA that I saw at a big sale at a car lot when we first got to WA.  The caretaker there said they didn't think anything about it when they kept the couple of animals together.  Then the colt? was born.  The guy thought he'd call it a zonkey.  It was basically shaped like a donkey with stripes on it's butt, not all over.

I think someone had fun with Photo Shop.
