Just bought my 1st Muzzy!
« on: January 30, 2010, 07:43:21 PM »
Today at a gunshow, I got a Remington M700ML .50 cal.........I got it for $100.

Now I have some questions...

Is it leagal in Wa?

The barrel has a fair amount of pitting in the groves, but the lands seem to be fairly healthy. The guy did say that he did not clean it for a while... is this going to ruin the accuracy?

Did I get a good deal for $100?

Thanks guys!

If I am not mistaken, it uses a 209 primer. And they are not legal to use during muzzy season.

Yea, I was wrong, just read that it has a three way ignition. Is the breach exposed? I know it is a bolt gun, ... so once you close the bolt can you still see the nipple?

Yes,  with the bolt closed the nipple is totally exposed..I am fairly certain that its legal...my biggest concern is what to do about the corrosion in the barrel......and did I still get a good deal?

Thanks!

Can you guys tell me what set up you use for hunting? like what powder, how much powder and bullet selection (especially elk) and also.....what cleaning products do you use?

And if you can where is the best place to buy this stuff on line? (Powder, bullets, primers?)

Thanks all!

my buddy has the same gun you just bought they don't make them anymore and very hard to find parts for. but they are a good gun.if you go to the muzzleloader section and look around there is allot of info on our setups and topics just for what works best for each person. and you want caps not primers :chuckle: they aint legal here :chuckle: cabelas has it all but you pay shipping and hazmat on it. i get my stuff from bimart-wholesale sports or if you have a cabelas close just go in if you can stand the prices :yike: good luck any questions feel free to pm me. i have been at this game for awhile :chuckle:
