Here is my 08 buck shot at less than 10 yards in his bed about 2/3 of the way down a clearcut. My buddies watched the whole thing and guided me down to him. He jumped out of his bed and ran uphill about 100 or so yards and died about 30 yards from the road.

Love the pictures guys. BTW, the picture I posted w/the arrow sticking out of it doesn't show the blind I took the shot from, it was a very fast kill. This was my second deer tag I drew that year. When I first started bow hunting in '86 I went into an archery shop in Spokane and say all these bloody arrows on display, it got me pumped up to do the same. ;)

I display my bloody arrows... on the wall of my archery den.  :)

Highside74, Ten Yards! YES!  :salute:  So what is the hand signal for "Shoot already!"?
I'd just like to remind everybody that it's about the hunting, not just the killing. In other words, it's about the total experience, the sport itself and the challenge involved. Bowhunting, done right, is a justifiable and honorable pursuit. Done for the wrong reasons, simply chalking up kills and seeking personal glory, it's taking away rather than giving back to a principled way of life that has to be experienced to be understood. I didn't have a shot until I that close. This buck had himself the perfect bed. The only reason we new he was there was he was standing when they saw him the first time. Took us almost 10 minutes to find him after he bedded and we new where he was. I don't think he ever thought anybody would find him there and that's why he stayed put. At less than 20 all I could see was an ear and part of his rack. From across the clearcut looking back that's abiut all you could see also. His bed was so worn the dirt was shiny. What a morning. That was the second buck of the day. When I get home I will post a pick of the buck my buddy shot with his muzzleloader about 2 hours earlier.

Ratdog68,  I took both of those Rosies with my Damon Howatt Hunter recurve 53lbs @ 28".  I draw at just a bit over 30" so it shoots at about 58-60lbs for me.  Damon Howatt archery was bought out years ago by Martin Archery...they still carry the same basic bow called the Martin Hunter.  As you say, it's always rewarding to harvest an animal with traditional gear.

Great animals!!  Hey your using the same bow as me!  I love mine.  How long have you had yours?

here is a buck i took late season.  not a monster but the opportunity was there.  sorry no field pics, the one time i forget the camera.   :bash: My tags are in my camera case so if i forget the camera im really screwed.  Over a 1 hour stalk and 15 does with him some bedded and some feeding.  This was the most fun hunt ive ever had and will always remember this buck.
