Well after a while of waiting,  4 of us members,  Myself, JJDavis,Stickhunter and Rackhunter are headed up to Petersburg Alaska for a black bear hunt. Stickhunter and I have been there before.  We basically stay at the lodge and they provide us cabins, food, boats, fuel, etc, and we have a unguided hunt, spot and stalk by boat.  Cant wait.  Will post pics and story when we get back.   :IBCOOL:

Whats the name of the lodge you guys are going to?

Even though I am doing a local spring bear hunt this year I am still envious. Sounds like a great hunt you have in store. Best of luck and be careful in the boats.

Sounds awesome!  I have always wanted to do that.

Out of curiosity, how is the meat on those spring black bears up there?  Are you required to keep it all?

Good luck!

Thanks for all the good lucks, :-)  We will try our hardest to come back safe.
As far as keeping the meat,  You are required to recover the meat until a certain date.  To be honest the first time We went up there, my bear was recovered the next day due to the tides and also another bear got into it that night.  I was not able to salvage the meat.

Me and Stickhunter know the lodge owner and get the best deal you ca possibly get if you know what i mean.  :-)
We are going to get as much video as we can and also take a ton of pics.  Im excited for the crab fishing while up there also.

The last time,  the first week of may produced 5 for 7 and im told more bear are out that second week,  i hope all of us 4 buds tag out anyway.
I want to try and call some also.

Will post update and pics after hunt.

Thanks guys.

Sweet, nothing funner than hunting bears from a boat in Alaska. I miss doing it. Was always fun to find a nice spot, catch some fish watch the tide go out and the bears come in. Good luck to you guys up there...
