scope and rings

looking for a set of good rings i usually use leupold rings. looking for a good scope has anyone ever used the nikon with bdc reticle. im limited on funds dont want to spend a fortune just for a scope i thought i could get a good one for at least 200.00. thanks

my wife's 3-9x50 prostaff BDC holds a zero great on her CZ550 luxus 30.06.

then i watched her dad drop a doe at 394 yards using the BDC reticle on his buckmaster 4.5-14x50.

nikon has a good lineup out for the budget hunter. those new redfields dont look so bad either.

oh, and WARNE rings. bullet proof.

i've had good luck with the warnes and the burris zee steel's. they both come in several heights and tube diameters so you can always find one that fits.

 Bought a new Redfield Revolution 4-12x40 for my AR-15 it was my first budget priced scope but I'm a big fan of Leupold so I thought I would give them a try. I own 4 diffrent Leupold VX III to comapre and for the money I paid ($140) the Redfield was a pretty good deal. It's bright and clear and has Leupold's awesome warranty.

The next rings I buy will be Talley's, Warne's or Deadnutz.
Nikon has great scopes in the price range you mention.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.

all great choices listed, leupold has a great ring as well and pair nice with about any scope

For $200 I like the Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40mm. I have one that gets swapped from gun to gun every time I need a scope. It's been on everything from a 204 Ruger to a 458 Win Mag and still tracks and holds zero like it did when it was new.

For rings I either use Burris Signature rings, or Warne QRW. I like the Burris Signatures because you don't need to lap the rings. Just slap a scope in there and tighten them down. The Warne rings need to be lapped, but I can pull the scope off and put it back on and still be within 1" at 100 yards.

just throwing this out there Leopold has Nikon do its glass and Nikon also has the lifetime warranty. I have a couple Nikons one with the bdc I love them. You have to shoot your gun to alot use the bdc

i though leupold's glass was made by weaver?  it could all come from the same place as far as i know.

take a look at the redfields.  i actually thought the 3-9x40 was clearer than the 3-9 VXII i compared it too.  i paired it up with warne rings and bases.

when i bought my first Nikon the guy told me yeah Leupold is good but Nikon is the samething but lower cost

Even if Nikon and Leupold get their glass from the same company, they're not the same scope. For one thing, the Leupolds are made here in the USA, Nikons are made in Japan. Then there is the Leupold warranty, which I don't think Nikon can match. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Nikon rifle scopes. I'd just rather support American companies and American workers.

whats the difference in warranty? And if it does't have a gold ring on it, it's made over seas
