east or west???

i am just now finding out after moving here that if you choose the west side your stuck there and same with the east. well, is there a better side? i have no clue. i come from idaho and its almost 100 percent general hunt there. this state has some regs im learning one at a time. so anyways, which side should i commit to? thanks.

Depends do you want a chance at bulls during general season?  if so you want the west side as the east is nearly all spike only.  If you live on one side or the other and can hunt more by staying in your area that is another consideration.

Getting better, area I used to hunt went from 600 archery hunters a few years ago to 300+/- last year, but I got tired of having 6 or 7 close encounters with branched bulls every season, no spikes in sight.

If you live in Morton - definitely would choose west.  convenient and good opportunities.

I live on the Eastside, but I hunt elk on the westside... There are just to many damn restrictions on the eastside and a ton of hunters all trying to shot a spike..

You can kill a good bull withen 10min of downtown morton.

Depending where on the west side, the underbrush can be incredibly thick (5 feet visibilty or less sometimes, especially towards the coast), which is of course where the bigger bulls are hanging out. Good luck walking quietly is that stuff!!! 

Last year down in Willipa Hills I had a true spike 50 feet from me perfectly broadside and stood still watching me for at least 30 seconds, but as with most of the west side being a 3 pt minimum, all I could do was watch. I am going to go eastside this year as it is much more open, and usually a lot dryer (less rain).

The west side is wet, crowded, brushy with a decreasing number of animals and diminishing odds of getting a shot.  The east side is dry, open, with a decreasing number of animals and diminishing odds of getting a shot.    Just pick where you want to enjoy your whiskey and spend time with your buddies.
