Good Sturgeon Guide's?
« on: June 21, 2010, 06:16:15 PM »
I'm trying to plan a sturgeon trip for about the 3rd week in July and thought I'd see if there were any suggestions as to a guide that is good.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks, Bear

He wants a guide not a weekend warrior hobby fisherman like me.  ;)

I can't charge for trips so it would be just for gas money.

Bottom Gun Guide Service - Jim Moore is the owner.
I met Jim 3yrs ago at the Yakima Sportsman show, when I was with my 2 boys.
I had wanted to go on a sturgen trip for some time. I got to talking to Jim and he offered some great advise.
So I booked a trip for my oldest son, myself & a couple guys from work.
Best time I've ever had. We ended up with around 25 shakers and 4 keepers.

We have been going for the last 3yrs, and every year I look foward to the trip.

Chris Schat is a great guy and a great guide. Super cool, knowledgeable and put us on fish. We hooked 4 or 5 oversized and ended up with a nice keeper too when I went with him. If I were to do it again I'd definitely use him. He even took us shad fishing at the end of our trip. I don't exactly remember his company name but when it hits me I'll throw it up. We found him on craigslist.

Thanks.  It looks like I have some good leads.  I think that there will be at least 4 of us going(2 of us plus our sons), but possibly more.

Where do you want to fish? Helps to know to find a good guide.

I am going to be out of work at that time and could take you out for gas money if you want to fish the Columbia for C&R

I fished sturgeon with Len Self before on the lower Columbia and would recommend him.

I am trying to finalize the dates with the other couple that we're planning the trip with.  I'll give you a pm when I get that figured out.  Bear
