bikes at peaches

Well, got into peaches and lookout area yesterday, saw some good fresh sign, and had a big doe bed down 10ft from us (that was cool) no elk sighted, but we could smell em sometimes....lots of sign...
  Too bad it was like a freakin KTM convention out there.. Why have a "wildlife enhancement area" that allows 2 stroke motors of any size whiz around, and around, and around, (youve already seen this trail but there you are again!) basically ruining any tranquility for MILES, stressing out the elk and deer?
Ive had my share of fun in the dirt on various ORVs, but these guys have miles and miles that arent a wildlife enhancement area.....wtf?

several times we had to LEAP off the trail to avoid ppl doing nearly 60mph on 3ft wide trails....not too fun when your in shorts and step into some poison oak because of it..

Try leading a pack horse down a narrow trail when a couple of those bikes come flying around a corner.  The after effects are not pretty. 

I am in the area all the time and there are plenty of Elk and they seem not to be to worried about the bikes.  However, it is not what it could be if they weren't in there.  I think everyone should be able to follow their passion and I would hate to have to divide up the state based solely on user preference we would all loose to the tree hugging bunny Fu*(&^ers.

Some were some werent, also saw quite a few ppl that werent street legal on "streets"...Im not gonna take the time to photograph them all and be a narc but theyre annoying, they were riddin fast and rippin up the dust clouds, not the putt putt honda 90s alot of ppl use there.

from what I have scouted and seen on google earth theres nowhere more than a mile or so from the trails...well except maybe one area

I hunt that area for archery season.  Most of the elk just step 20 yards of the trail and let you go by.  I know it gets old when you're hunting but I don't think the elk are to afraid of must of the bikes.

use those bike trails to your advantage and learn that country.  those elk will not be far from them.  i agree with the annoyance when your trying to scout but that country will come alive during the rut.

The bike trails have been there for years,will be ther for many to come. Either get used to sharing the counrty with all types of recreation or get out 

I am so tired of people wining about other users being in there area, Get over it........

The elk are not scared of the OHV's, Horses, trucks driving down the roads, etc. They grew up with it and are used to it...

The Animal are where you find the, All Over...............

the national forest is "multiple use" that means everybody has the right to use it and recreate in it on whatever vehicle or horse or foot that they want....as Gasman said, the elk don't pay any attention to vehicles.  If you don't like sharing the woods with motorized users, go into the wilderness.

No I ride on roads and trails bikes aren't supposed to be.  I know better than trying to mix it up.

I have been up there and glassed Elk bedded down with in yards of a bike trail and they just watched the bikes roll by.

nocklehead,  What is this "wildlife enhacement area" you speak of? I've never heard of such a thing in that area.

The elk dont care about the bikes, 4wheelers, or 4x4s. I think they actually like the noise.
