it was a diesel ;) , and yes, consistently. sadly that truck was stolen and totalled. i drive the exact same truck as you do currently, right down to the year. the only thing different is the color. the duramax deisels are breaking 20mpg in their sleep. maybe thats what he is driving. :dunno: |

'97 2wd shortbox GMC here....with a vortec 5L. I average 20-22mpg on the freeway, and that's with an auto and 3.73 gears..... ...but it does have intake, exhaust, and some computer updates. ;) |

I fat fingered when I typed out my ealrier post. When I hauled the granite it was up near 20 mpg. Should have read my post before I posted it. I average between 19 and 25 on the highway everyday when I drive to work since it is all highway miles. A lot of it depends on traffic and the outside air temp. When traffic is heavy and i am always stopping and going it will be lower, plus when its cold out it will also drop. The day I got the granite it was up in the 70 and a lot of the road was downhill which helped. |
