Anyone on this site hunt the West side of 18 in the firearm restricted area? I drove by there this evening and only saw two rigs parked at the 4 gates.

I was driving to the east side about 4pm and about 2 miles before Tinkham Rd there were 4 elk right on the side of I 90. 3 cows and I think a five point bull. Didnt get any pics cuz the traffic but I've never seen them there. Pretty cool to see.

Heck, I've been trying to find info on Tiger Mtn and what is legal to hunt and what isn't. I cant find a sight or information that will give me a definitive answer.

You can basically hunt all the areas off of Hwy 18 with the exception of the Tiger Mt St Forest which is the big parking lot off of 18. All of the other gates are either DNR or Hancock and you can hunt them. However you can only use rifles on the eastside of 18 since the westside is a firearms restriction area.

Here is what you need to know:
1. Tiger Mtn is in GMU 454.
2. Most, but not all of the Tiger Mtn area is public land.
3. Some parts of Tiger Mtn are in "no shooting" areas designated by King County. http://www.kingcounty.gov/operations/GIS/Maps/VMC/PubSafety.aspx#E9F5FED8891749A88ED78E1A397A6A85
4. Areas west of highway 18 are a "Firearm Restricted" area which means no centerfire rifles.

I haven't found anything saying that you can't hunt tiger mtn state forest. Pretty sure you can hunt that whole section west of 18 all the way to 90

You can archery hunt in a no shooting zone. Just can't use modern or muzzle loader.

That's correct.  No firearms in no shooting area.  You can even use a crossbow.

Knew there was a boundary, just not where. Nice that we have some dedicated bow hunting land nearby

 This thread comes up every year. You need to get a State DNR map, they administer Tiger SF. There is a State conservation area in the NW corner of the forest that is closed to hunting, the rest is open to hunting.

I have seen elk a few times along the stretch of I-90 between Exit 38 and Tinkham. So them several times one winter, even saw a cow on the shoulder that was hit. Never saw any bulls, all cows, but it was cool to see them in that area.

I've seen elk along that stretch of freeway as well. I've also gone up into the hills at the Tinkham exit and have seen sign up high.

I've heard of deer being taken off private land out in that general area, but would it be worth it to chase deer on some of the public land?

 The NF in that area is steep as hell, that said I did see a good branch-antlered buck down near the river a couple years ago, in between modern and archery season's. There are some good bucks there both north and south of 90. Folk's see good bucks of the John Wayne trail all the time, bordered by NF lands, have to watch out for the watershed on the south side.
