Chocolate bear down
« on: November 08, 2010, 04:55:13 PM »
elk hunting in GMU 340, 4-7 hunters hunting hard on foot we managed to fill one cow tag and that was on the last Saturday....pretty slow  :bash:

anyway the last Saturday mid-morning I hear what I think are elk coming and out pops this bear she is moving at a good clip and I wait for her on the other side of a large tree and put the crosshairs of .308 behind the shoulder and squeeze it rolls once and then runs straight up the hill I fire again hitting the right rear leg :bash: the first shot double lunged her and did not need the follow up shot , the taxidermist said the leg could be repaired.

Sow alone ,small every time I look at her she gets smaller, but what she lacks in size she makes up for in color and prettiness  :)

what's the recoil like with the rifle?  .308 in that short of a package is neat!  and a beautiful bear!

Nice chocolate... and love the RFB.  Is that considered a SBR (short barrelled rifle) or pistol?
I have at least three other "Fun" purchases in mind, now four... My wife would probably use it on me if I bought one.

recoil is light for a .30 cal.  the plane of the barrel is even with but of the gun so its a push-back, the flash hider vents all the gas up so muzzle climb  minimal, very quick fallow up shots- just make sure you have good hearing protection.

No Kel Tec designed it to pass Fed. regulations and regulations in most states (legal in Cali w/ some modifications)  18 1/2" barrel and 28" over all length.

I'm going to get it camoed at NWhydro print and replace the issued 20 rd. mag with a 10 rd. try and make it look less tactical - get less "why are you hunting with a machine gun?"  questions.
