I am a fan of Benelli and you cant go wrong with the nova! I have been shooting a SBE for years now and it is a great gun.  I owned a NOVA for 1 year but the whole pumping thing was not for me.

My original #1 duck gun was an 870 3"  with ic choke.
After both shoulders had surgery, I switched to 11-87 again with 3" shells and IC
Back up over decoys is 1100 16 guage modified, vintage 1950's era, inheritance gun.  I prefer that one, but of course with steel shot the payload is whimpy.

SBEII. Got a few back ups but have never need one. For years a Rem 870 Wingmaster covered everything I did since it was new in 76.

NOVA BABY.

watched several other guns malfunction or quit from the elements in the same blind as my nova that kept on ticking.

It sounds like it's time to get a new gun.

Benelli SBE, Nova backup.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the beretta extrema 2, the gun of choice for three of my hunting companions.

Rem 870 3" black/synthetic. Boom. Never a failure or lock-up. It's a work horse in the mud and slop.

A 12 gauge camo SBE Benelli "southpaw"  :) a good gun. I think the best gun I ever had was an 870, that thing went through hell and back with me. You could freeze that gun in water, dethaw it and it would fire no matter what condition it was in.

If I ever had to carry a shotgun in a war an 870 is what I would want, always reliable.
