Buttonhead buck down with the longbow
« on: November 28, 2010, 02:40:21 PM »
Yesterday I got a turkey. Today I got this buttonhead buck. It was a 20 yard shot with the sapphire hawk. Went through the heart. He dropped dead 30 yards from where he was shot. I had thought it was a doe until closer inspection revealed nuggets and buttons.  :chuckle: Finally got some critter down with the hawk.

Cool!  Neat picture, too.  Put it in black and white, and it could be from the 30's.

I also agree on the pic in B&W.

Great job putting meat in the freezer.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Great job, Ray!  Just when I thought I may have to learn to shoot a c-c-c-compound just to get some meat in the freezer.  So many times within the last 3 years with my longbow that I wish for just an extra 20 yds :bash:

Nice! Glad you scored with the traditional bow! Ever thought about using a flintlock? That is fun too! Lighting a fire with a rock to kill a deer! Traditional bow hands down is tougher, Congrats on a fine deer!

Nice job BDO err Ray... Saw that over on Tradgang already!  Nice price you got on that jacket too.  Nice to see the Hawks putting them down this year.  That will be one fine eating deer.
