Well this is the only good story of my hunt. I jumped this buck at 10:30am on sunday morning. He went out to the sage with five doe's. He bedded down on this brow. He was 300 yards out from where I took this picture. There was ony this pine I was sitting behind between him and I. There was another groop of doe's up the hill. Three doe's below him and two doe's right on top of the brow. There was no good way of getting to him. I sat behind the big pine for 5 hours. Wow was it cold. Righ around 4:00pm he got up and started feeding towards me. So know I am thinking to myself it is finally coming together. Out of the corner of my eye I catch movement at 50 yards. It was a forked horn and a hot doe. The big buck see's this buck and smells the doe. He is on a v line towards me. I get my pack set down for a shooting rest. At this point he is at 110 yards. unfortenetly the light was just right to where he blended in with the 4 foot bitter brush. So I see him drop off the hill. I pack up my gear really quick and walk down to this skid road and I see the buck at 200 yards out. I take off running towards him. I get within a 100 yards. get in the prone position and pull the trigger. What could go wrong did go wrong. Yes the cap did not go. I reach into my pocket get another cap. The buck moves up the hill and I see him broadside again out at 120 yards. I get down again take aim the best I could with the light I had left , wich was really not even enough to see my sights and I pull the trigger only to miss. I had my chance and blew it. I had a great time and had my chance, for the buck I went there to get. Sorry for the pic it is the only one I got. The buck had around a 28 inch spread 4x4 with eye guards with huge forks.

I didn't get the camera out much. Here is one I just had to take a pic of. This tree is around 16" in diameter. I would have love to run into the stud who made these.

Here are the a couple of pictures I got of the one that got away. They were from about 500-600 yards away threw the spotting scope. Then I cropped the picture to blow it up a bit. They aren't very good pictures but hey.

Yeah tell me about it. I just wish that either you or Mike could of hung a tag on him. The day we came by to do some chores for farmer a couple of guys stopped by to show him some pictures of one they had gotten on. Fricken huge. They estimated him at around 30+. I guess the tag holder got in close and got the shakes really bad and missed. To bad for him. Hopefully I can draw that tag again. I had a great time and now I know where to go.
