nikon buckmaster is a really good scope, I think its in the $300 range. look at the reviews on it- all good things
Fall City Firearms had a pile of Leupold VX-1 3-9x40 for $219 at their grand opening a week or 2 ago. They said that was $30 cheaper than Cabelas.
Depending on your price range, I'd pick the best Leupold you can afford. You will not be disappointed and have a lifetime warranty that they honor well.
Thanks for the input, got a Leupold VX-1 3-9 by 40 yesterday at Sportco for 220.00 impressed with the lifetime warranty, cant wait to mount it and test it out!!!
That's too bad. You could have got the Bushnell I suggested for $20 less, and it's a lot better scope. I like Leupold but you have to get a VX-III to get a scope that's comarable to the Bushnell 4200
I think FOV is also a much more important aspect of night hunting than people generally thing. The more terrain you have in your FOV in a low light situation, the more you have to compair and contrast against game making them easier to pick out. as far as power goes......a 6x scope makes a 300 yard shot appear to be 50 yards, if you cant take a responsible unmagnified 50 yard shot you probably shouldnt be taking the shot at all.
