:yeah:   I think that the VAST majority of the fish and wildlife guys are good, hard working people.

I think they are too. I think the issues that we see just deal with coordination and one group not knowing what the other is doing half the time. If you call with a question, unless you get the right person, you may not get the correct answer but it doesn't mean that the person you spoke with isn't good at their job.  :twocents:

At least you arent alone on that.  I'm just of the opinion that the DFW is full of inept scat-heads, so assume anything theyre supposed to have done will likely be finished weeks after, and usually incorrectly

 :twocents:  So no surprise here..

So you assume that the multiseason results will be out sometime in May?

I think that 99% of the issues WDFW "has" wouldn't exist if it weren't for internet hunting forums.

Not sure what world you live in Bobcat but in my world no vacation is guaranteed and the earlier I put in the better the shot I have at getting it!  All these other states don't seem to have this problem! Spring bear starts tomorrow, still haven't gotten my Kapowsin permit? ???

Well, sorry but I don't see your lack of flexibility at work being the WDFW's problem. Maybe you should consider putting in for the vacation you would need IF you draw a permit you apply for. Then if you don't draw, cancel the vacation.

I do agree it is a problem if your bear season starts tomorrow and you haven't received your permit in the mail yet. But things happen that may be out of the control of the DFW. Maybe the mailed your permit and it got lost in the mail somehow, or stolen out of your mailbox. A couple years ago I drew a special permit for a late rifle deer hunt, and never received it in the mail. I went to the WDFW office in Olympia and they printed it out for me at that time.

Again Bobcat, not sure what world your living in?  In my world and probably just about everyone elses, you don't get to put in for multiple vacation requests and then cancel all the ones you don't want or need anymore and keep the ones you do want!  Think about how well this would work if everybody could do that at one place of employment?  Not very well!  Has nothing to do with lack of flexibility.  I think just about all of us put in for a number of different permits with various season times, that'd be a lot of vacation requests!  Did you think about what you were saying as you wrote this?  Things happen????  No I called WDFW yesterday and they casually responded with "oh we mailed those out on Tuesday, you should hopefully be getting them in the mail today."  So apparently that's acceptable to mail them out that late and hope the permits arrive in the mail the day before the season starts!  This happens year in and year out and gets old.  Bottom line is theres no excuse for drawing permits at the last second or half way through the year!  All these other states have gotten it figured out but somehow ours can't?

Bobcat, Question for you. I think this has been talked about before but lest say you draw a Multi Season Elk tag. Can you apply for a Muzzy Cow permit and a Modern Bull permit?

That and the cell phone.  You guys think its so cool to call and bug them, but everytime you do it takes that much more time off their hands.   When you are doing your job, do you like the phone ringing distracting you constantly.  Try some patience.  Its good practice for in the field.

Yes. The last time I had it I put in for rifle cow and muzzy cow and was drawn for muzzy cow.

 :yeah:

Patience?  So it's the day before spring bear and I didn't have my permit yet?  Time for patience was over!

Thought we were talking about multiseason tags here?

Yea boneaddict replied with a comment that we need to be patient and not call and bug WDFW so I replied back with why sometimes a phone call is in order!
