Kansas Rio/Eastern Hybrid - 2008 1 inch spurs and 11 in. beard, Heavy bird but not able to get a weight.

The #1 Bird in wt is 31 lb's and I don't see a 25 lb'er on the list.

I know some home raised merriams and easterns that could easily push 30"! Turkey weight records don't mean much to me.

Beard length and number of beards and spur length are the specs in my book.

Turkey scoring in general is pretty boring. As long as i get a mature tom im happy. beard length can be effected to much by drag, were measuring spurs to the 1/8 of an inch. I mean who cares if it has 7/8 spurs or 1". If that guy comes in puffed up and gobbling hes making my record book. Now of course there is the rare turkey that my buddy shot last year that had four beards, now thats sweet. A nine incher, two sixes and a five incher, pretty impressive if you ask me.

For you guys wanting to know which record book my state record merriams is in , its in the Washington record book .. I never registered it with the NWTF because I did not care too...all entries need to be offically scored so there is no exaggerating..... it is easy to photo shop by pushing your quary out in front of you ..

I dunno the size of this gobbler but, seeing that this is the only mature tom I've ever taken so far, he's difinitely the largest. This was in '08 - my first hunt. I took a two year old last jake year.

Only a few more days to go and see what's what...

Not my biggest bird, but still a good 1.. My biggest is in an awesome case my father in law built me.. I've posted it on here before. Didn't feel like finding my cable for my camera right now to load it up. Maybe later. This birds beard was 10in. and he had nice spurs aswell.

fishermanjoe, my son, shot a nice 23# Merriams with 10 3/4 inch beard for his first turkey when he was 16. Last year I got a 22# Merriams with a 9 1/2 inch beard. I'll try to post pics....

Thats why I like taking him. I never have to worry about the mature toms being shot. Now Unclebuck is different, he waits for the big ones. He just cant hit em.
