I just got a .50 cal Knight Bighorn. Any tips anyone can give me on powder, loads etc. I know the best way to learn is by doing but if anyone has some tricks they would be willing to share I will put them to good use when I go to the range. |

I've had a Bighorn for five years now. Great muzzleloader. :tup: I shoot 110 grains of pyrodex pellets( 2-30gr pellets,1-50gr pellet) with a 310gr. Knight sabot bullet. Will hold a group under 3" at the 100 yard range. We have seven of them in our hunting group, and straight form the box they were all pretty close on sight-in. A couple didn't even need to be touched, they were dead-on. Hopefully you got the thumbhole stock, as the regular stock is a bit short on the front and it will make it top heavy on a sling. That's really the only thing I can complain about, other than I did switch out the original ramrod for a T-bar. Anyway, keep it clean and oiled and it will shoot like a dream for a long time. |

Thanks for the info. That will give me a starting point. Do you use it for deer or elk? I'll just be hunting deer with it until I've learned all the tricks and I'm comfortable with it. |

I got it from Four Corners down in Castle Rock. I can't remember the exact price but it was less than $350 taxes included, and I got the stainless. I waited on the list at sportsmans warehouse for 6 months for one and got tired of waiting. Was visiting family in castle rock and walked into four corners and they had 6 big horns in the racks. 3 blue and 3 stainless. |
