There is plenty of public land in the unit.  Of all the bulls we seen last year, the majority were on public land.  Most of the bigger bulls were up around Crystal.  Like others have said, if you are willing to hike and get away from the roads then you should have a pretty good shot at a decent bull. :twocents:

thats why i said most, i know there is public land. Heck you could pay the 20 dollars for a gondola ride up, who needs to hike  :chuckle:. No but i know a ton of guys who walk in from 410 off of hancock and other access gates, and every single spot has red signs saying no access period. So just thought i would state it for those guys who use them so they save a couple of bucks in gas money driving up there.

How did the white river archery tag holders do this year?  I remember there were a few people on here that had the archery tag.  How was the hunt?

We killed one in our group of 3.  A pretty nice 6x6 that rough scores at about 280.  The weather really put a damper on things but still had some pretty good hunting and were in elk just about everyday.  Elk definitley weren't real aggressive for the most part.  Had a few get fired up and come in and missed a ripper bull at 12 feet.  How you might ask, very carefully!

Right on.  The hot weather wasn't the greatest for hunting, but sounds like you guys made the most of it.  I have a rifle tag and was just curious how the archers did.  Any pics of that 6x you guys got?
