Elk North Bend Hancock Tree Farm

Hi everyone i'm new to this site and live in Issaquah. I've been deer hunting the North Bend Hancock Tree farm for several years and have had some sucess but was wondering if anyone has had sucess elk hunting up there. I've heard of elk being up there but have never had much time to actually hunt during the elk season. Thank you for any input.

I used to haul rock out of the Cadman Pit by the Truck Town. I know there was elk in the pit everyday.

They still are.  We installed a bunch of sewer pipe up in that area and I seen elk everyday.  There is lots of private land and houses for those domesticated elk to hang out at!

Just make sure you are not hunting anywhere near those houses.  The locals are getting pretty quick on calling the game department nowadays.  I see elk everyday on my way down the road.

Question, what are the hunting laws around there, inside/outside city limits. no shooting zone etc ?

There are no special regs for this area. It is a private tree farm owned by Hancock so you need to buy the permit for vehicle access, but other then that there are no special regs.

Inside of City limits, there is a no shooting zone.  There are oppurtunities to hunt if you get permission, but everything inside the City limits is firearm restricted.

im not quite sure myself ive seen elk up their constantly on scouting trips.. all you can do is give it a shot man.. best of luck.. im new to huntin elk in this state also, hopeully you get the info you need.. where do you get the vehicle permit at.. ive always mountain biked around that area.. but never hunted inside of it.. it might be pretty cool...

Yeah i know i just need to get up there more often and scout it for myself, i plan on going up next week for bear season and doing some additional scouting between now and the elk season, plus i'm going to deer hunt during modern firearm this season which i am familiar with. You buy the permit at the North Bend True Value Hardware Store and it costs $225 i believe. I've gotten a permit the last couple years and have had sucess deer hunting and done well fishing a few of the lakes. It is a very cool area and in my opinion worth buying into. They are sold out for this year and start selling the permits in January.

The tree farm is not within city limits.

there is plenty of walk in spots to hunt elk on the tree farm. just have fun trying to find them, even with a permit to access the farm. and when you do find them.....keep your mouth shut cause it will be worth it. they dont move around much in there

Big Tex is correct on both accounts. 

If you have the special permits for elk in the North Bend elk unit, not the entire GMU, I dont think you are able to hunt the tree farm and harvest an animal under the permit. I think the permit is only good in the valley, most of which is in City limits. You should check the regs and read the boundary descriptions.

The biggest bulls seem to hang out in the pastures along the road leading up to the Hancock site.  I hunted there for two seasons, and drove by the "untouchables" in and out of Hancock.  It seemed like they had their own copy of the reg's, and would wander down onto private property during the season.

thanks man i might have to do that dude.. i have a hard time finding enough gas money stashed away to do all the hunting i do.. none of my buddies have gotten into it like i have so im always solo and have two kids that swollow up my other spare finances. but ive been managing really well this year.. manage to invest alot of time and money into bowhunting this year also.. so when i get alittle that will be top on my list..
