Contest or no contest, there will be hundreds of dogs thinned out this winter.  If for some reason the contest isn't possible, I would see no reason why we can't post our kills and keep a running tally as a whole.  I personally enjoy the photos and stories from peoples hunts as much or more as the contest itself.  Besides I'm guessing Gringo isn't going to let all those bullets just sit there and collect dust.   :chuckle:  I know I will be reloading all winter myself regardless of a contest.

:yeah:  My feelings exactly!  I'm already psyched up for the cold weather kills, even though pred hunting is year-round.

Marlin:  If there is a competition, and the rules permit more than 4 on a team, your'e welcome to be our wetside "Maybe next time" participant.  So far, Predatorpro is our only team member to draw blood.  Gives the rest of us something to "shoot for".

So....I guess the question is whether or not we "start" keeping our tally on Oct 1 or Nov 1?
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

I vote for December 1st.

Anybody remember when it started last year?

It used to run Oct 1 thru Feb.  Last year we cut Oct out and started Nov.

I do not know about the eastside but for as far as calling coyotes over here on the wetside I also find it better calling in November and December ... so I would vote October 1st ... :twocents:

As I recall, the reason it went to Nov. was to prevent the "burn out" of the Admin. that was keeping score.  If we keep our own tally, Oct. 1 is fine wih me.   :twocents:

I think it was actually to wait until modern firearm seasons were over. (ie. some will be chasing deer while others would be getting a head start on their tally)

What's wrong with chasing deer and whacking coyotes at the same time?  I got a flourescent camo vest just for that purpose.  Coyotes can't see red anyway.

I vote for a November start.

Modern firearm deer season will be over and we don't have to be out there trying to call with 1000 people out there shooting at everything that moves, it just makes for spooky dogs during deer season. Plus the pelts will be better for those that want fur.
Checkin' wind and makin' smoke.
That's how I roll...
