Swakane Sheep
«
on:
September 18, 2011, 07:10:35 AM »
Just finished my Swakane sheep tag and the whole experience was better than expected. I had 11 total people that helped me scout and be there for the day I killed my ram. I was really torn between two rams and ended up going with the ram with the most character and acted the smartest on the mountain. He was tough to locate, always stayed in the steepest cliffy stuff and would take off by himself if spooked. The other ram is beautiful and will probably be on someone's list in 2012. I just wanted to thank all the members that shared information, pictures and offered to help. His long horn is 38.5 and his base is 15 inches. The chunk hurts him on one measurement by about an inch, but that is why we called him "flattop". A lot of great rams still running around up there and the next couple years are going to be great. The Swakane sheep hunt is special and it was a priveledge to be the hunter in 2011.

I think he is over 10, but will have to see when they plug his horn this week. The chunk did not cost him that much in score and he still grosses around 180.

He also looks like a contender for the HuntWA Horn Competition.

Great ram Tom, seen them all in that unit, and he was the class of the herd! You are right the lucky Person who draws the tag next year should have a great hunt. It will be interesting to see what your number 2 ram scores next year? No doubt he was a close number 2. All I can say is good job, can't wait to see him on the wall. Let's see more pic's.
