Dog crates

I think we all use them to keep out working dogs safe in the truck, but I've never really come up with a good way of securing mine in the bed of my pickup. Typically I run a tie down strap diagonally around it, but it still leaves play. Anybody out there have a better way?

I have bungies run through the vents and hooked to the tie-downs.
I wouldn't call it solid as a vault, but it works.
I have considered screwing cleats or similar to the sides for attaching.

Ratchet straps. I got a four pack from Costco. They work great if you have any anchor/tie down points.

I JUST LET THE CRATE SLIDE AROUND,...  I THINK MY DOG LOVES TO BE BOUNCED AROUND IN HIS CRATE FROM ONE SIDE OF THE TRUCK BED TO THE OTHER. HE EVEN SQUEELS IN DELIGHT WHEN HIS CRATE HITS THE SIDES OF THE BED.     I'M JUST JOKING.  LOL
 ON A SERIOUSE NOTE,  I USUALLY USE BUNJY CORDS THROUGH THE VENTS,  IF ITS A SHORT TRIP I SOMETIMES JUST LEAVE THE CRATE UNSTRAPPED,  IT DOESN'T SLIDE AROUND AT ALL, BY BED LINING HAS GOOD GRIP, PLUS THE WEIGHT OF THE DOG MAKES IT HARD FOR THE CRATE TO SLIDE.   BUT I RARELY HAVE MY DOG IN THE BACK OF THE TRUCK,.. USUALLY IF I'M IN THE TRUCK,  HE IS INSIDE THE TRUCK WITH ME.  I ONLY KEEP HIM IN THE CRATE IF I'M ON MY SUBARU.

Toss a 1/2 case of bottles back there for some sound effects and the pooch is set..

I have a rubber bed mat in the back of my truck which provides a rather non-slip surface.  That and a couple of rubber bungies over the top of the crate to the tie-downs and I've never had a problem.

My dog is a spoiled princess and rides in the back seat of my truck.

I have tie-downs in the bed of my Tacoma, fore and aft. I use a ratcheting tie strap to secure the kennel against the cab end of the truck bed, it works great.

I have an aluminum crate that I lined with 1" rigid insulation and 1/2" plywood.  The crate is bolted to the bed floor.  It's sturdy and keeps her warm.

My dog is a spoiled princess and rides in the back seat of my truck. 

Mine only rides in the backseat if the front seat is occupied. 
He's not real fond of me having a human passenger.
