First Antelope hunt!!!!
« on: October 08, 2011, 11:20:14 PM »
Well we just got back from Wyoming and it was a blast, probably the most fun I have ever had hunting. We saw hundreds of goats a few muleys and even a real heavy 5x5 bull elk. This was the first time any of us had ever hunted Antelope and we all shot some nice bucks and a few does. My Fiance Kyli made a great 225yard shot on not only her first antelope but her first big game animal. The smile on her face when she walked up and put her hands on her buck was the best part of the trip, she was grining from ear to ear the rest of the week. My dad and I looked over lots of bucks and learned a lot about judging them, they all start to look the same after a while. We did not shoot any monsters but they are all trophies to us that we will never forget. I can see now why everyone loves hunting in wyoming, I am already thinking about next year.

Cool pics, sounds like a fun trip.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

Nice lopes. Kyli's has charater with the broken prong. Your dad's looks very tall and of course yours isn't a dink either. Did you all share guns?  :dunno:  :chuckle: They all look very similar?
Good job  What unit did you guya hunt? Public or private land?
Thanks for sharing the pics.

I would have to put wyoming antelope up high on hunts that are the most fun, action is pretty much non-stop and there is something about being out on the prairie that I love.  Looks like a great trip!

Thanks for all the kind words guys. This trip was a blast. To answer a couple of questions. We hunted all public land diy. And yes all three bucks were taken with the same gun. It is kyli's howa 1500 in .308. We all had our own guns but decided to hunt together and focus on one buck at a time. I had my 270wsm and my dad had his 300wm. Both of which had harris bi-pod's on them. The area we hunted was either tall grass or sage flats and you could not see very well sitting so when the shots presented themselves we all used the 308 off a standing bog-pod. It all worked out. I did drill a doe with my 270wsm at 350 yards. Thanks again and good luck too everyone the rest of the season.
Lucas.

Isn't Wyoming great??  We saw in a single field along the powder river Pronghorn, Mule deer, whitetail and turkey!

Congrats on the speed goats.  Looks like good times had by all.  Nice animals too!
