helicopter in clearwater
« on: November 22, 2011, 08:48:04 PM »
I was checking out a clear cut in clearwater unit when out of nowhere a white helicopter comes crusing about 100 or so feet above the ground and just hovering above the trees. The helicopter just flew around a couple clear cuts adjacent to where we were for about 20 minutes or so and took off. Anyone have any ideas on this nonsense? I know we were baffled. Oh this was during mod season as well. So much for the stealth approach

Are you talking about the westside 615?  I was in 618 and had a small plane flying all around and then a helicopter.  I think it was on the Wed or Thurs.

Probably Cedar Salvage operation, they use helicopter all the time to fly the wood out, other than that, I have no idea.

Cedar blocks or other.  Also they fly cedar boughs out.  Remember you are hunting in working forests.  Many other types of surveys going on.

It is the Native's new way to hunt the deer & elk.. That way people can't talk about their road hunting  :chuckle:

Wrong time of year for elk or deer surveys.  Would have very little meaning.

Yep that's it. The game dept. doesn't have money. The tribes have all the money and power.
