Dip your gun?
« on: December 10, 2011, 11:47:36 AM »
I've got a stainless .223 that I'm gonna make my coyote gun. Thinking about ways to camo it. Thought about getting it dipped. Anyone had this done? Got any places you'd recommend?

NW Hydroprint does dipping. I am not at all convinced on that process. They strip all metals and then paint and seal it before they dip it. I am just not convinced that it is a hard and lasting finish.  :twocents: Anyway you might get try camo it yourself, I have done a couple of my own and it was gratifying. One plus on doing it yourself is that you can touch up if needed and it will match because have the colors, patterns, leaves, weeds, all the stuff you used the first time. Here are my two ARs that I did myself

Krylon Camo colors, pretty good variety to choose from.

The one in front and large, was cleaned and degreased then painted all over with Army green. Then I just held the leaves, ferns, etc. in place one at a time and shot Earth brown around them. short bursts to keep coverage down so Green still shows.  The other one was similar but I used a net type of material and it gave it a snake skin look. I was happy with the outcome. Also did my .243 Tikka the same way.
